The Vardar-hammam

This hammam was located on the right side of the Vardar River. It was known as the "Karsiyaka Hamami" (meaning ‘The hammam in the otherside’), as the Mujahideen’s hammam, and the Hammam of Hassan Riza Effendi, consecrated the Yalen Kapan Mosque.
The exact year of its building remains unknown, but from the waqf of Haji Hassan Riza Effendi (from Kriva Palanka) dating from 1896, it is known that this person consecrated a hammam and a house in Skopje. According to Hadzi Vasiljevic, the hammam was built in 1886.
This was a single hammam. For a certain period of time, water was supplied from the Vardar River with the help of a wooden wheel which turned and thus took the water from Vardar. The hammam was in use until the liberation of Skopje in 1944, and then it was demolished.
