The Military Rüşdiye

The Military Rüşdiye was opened probably in 1893. In 1896/97, there were 361 students in this four-grade military school (high school). In the academic year 1900/1 the numbered dropped to 189 students. The school was located near the Iron bridge, in the Demirkopru neighborhood, named after the Iron Bridge. This school continued to function during the reign of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. This building does not exist today. It embodied the Ottoman architectural spirit, mixed with some of the Western architectural influences.
